The young hormonal skin

Young hormonal skin is typically the skin condition seen in teenagers and young adults, who are affected by hormonal changes in the body – especially during puberty, menstruation, pregnancy or stress.
Hormonal fluctuations stimulate the sebaceous glands, which can lead to various skin problems, especially blemishes and oily skin.
It requires balanced, gentle and targeted skincare to reduce breakouts and strengthen skin health.

The young hormonal skin

Characteristics of young hormonal skin

  • Pimples (papules), blackheads (comedones), cysts and pustules – especially in the T-zone of the face (forehead, nose and chin).
  • Imperfections can also occur on the back, chest, and shoulders.
  • Increased sebum production which results in shiny skin, especially in the middle of the day when skin cells are shed.
  • Makeup has a hard time staying put.
  • The pores appear enlarged and can become clogged with sebum and dead skin cells.
  • Inflammatory eruptions (red, tender pimples).
  • The skin may be sensitive to harsh products.
  • Skin can alternate between oily and dry, depending on hormonal cycles, diet, sleep and stress.

Causes of hormonal imbalance in the skin

  • Puberty: Increase in androgenic hormones (especially testosterone) increases sebum production.
  • Menstrual cycle: Many people experience breakouts before or during menstruation or at ovulation.
  • Birth control pills or hormonal disorders (e.g. PCOS) can also affect the skin.
  • Stress: Increases cortisol levels → worsens acne and oily skin.

Skincare for young hormonal skin

Mild but effective cleanser that removes excess sebum, pollution and dead skin cells.
Moisturizer that moisturizes well and is non-comedogenic (non-clogging) like mineral oils. Always use organic vegetable oils.

Active ingredients that can help:

  • Salicylic acid (BHA) or enzymes that dissolve sebum and clean pores.
  • Niacinamide regulates sebum and soothes the skin.
  • Zinc, which is highly antibacterial and sebum-regulating. Can be taken as a dietary supplement.
  • Benzoyl peroxide which kills acne bacteria (use with caution and always consult your beautician or dermatologist first).

Our 3IN1 is a mild cleanser with enzymes and marine peptides, so it cleanses effectively without drying out.
Our face cream is highly recommended for skin in imbalance. It contains only vegetable oils and prebiotics that support and help the cells with their natural microbiome. It also soothes with niacinamide.
Oily and shiny skin needs plenty of moisture. So our SERUM can help with this due to the high level of hyaluronic acid and natural vitamin A, which repairs the cells.

Avoid over-treatment: Over-cleansing and drying products can worsen the imbalance.
